Basic Rider Course (BRC)  $190.00

 

Effective September 1, 2009, an applicant for an original class “M” license must furnish proof of successful completion of a Basic Rider Course.This course is designed to teach the basics of safe and responsible motorcycling.  The Basic Rider Course (BRC) is for people who have never ridden before as well as experienced riders that would like to have a refresher course or sharpen their skills and/or safety strategies.

The course consists of classroom and motorcycle range instruction which is approximately 15 hours (lunch & breaks excluded).  Each student will receive a BRC handbook for the classroom portion of the course.  Motorcycles and helmets are provided for the on-cycle portion of the course.  A non-printable version of the BRC handbook can be viewed prior to class.

Students must be able to ride a two wheel bicycle, be physically & mentally capable, be 15 years old on or before the date of class (signed parental consent if under 18 years old).  Ages 15-25 must have a Class C learner license (permit) or an unrestricted Class C, or higher, driver license.  All students are required to present their own learner’s permit, driver’s license or if over age 25 and they don’t have a driver’s license, must present proof of identification at the beginning of class.

All students will be required to complete the entire course and pass both the written and riding skill evaluation test in order to receive the Certificate of Completion (COC).  If the student presents the COC to the Texas DPS licensing office and has a valid Class C, unrestricted drivers license, the on-cycle road test may be waived if  18+ years old, but the written portion must be taken.  Under 18 years of age, the DPS will require both the knowledge test & the on-cycle road test.

Although the success rate is high for students that pass this course, we do NOT guarantee successful completion to any student.

Experienced Rider Course (ERC)  $80.00

 

This half day course is designed to teach more advanced riding and street skills and will run approximately 5 hours.  We recommended that students have at least 6 months and/or 3,000 miles riding experience.

Students attending the Experienced Rider Course (ERC), must provide their own DOT approved helmet, own street worthy motorcycle, present their valid drivers license with a class M endorsement and show current proof of motorcycle insurance.  (Driver’s license can not have a 'J' restriction.)

Upon completion of the ERC, students will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Required Riding Gear for all Motorcycle Courses

 

The following must be worn at all times by all students attending either course while on the motorcycles:

 Helmet, DOT approved  (approved loaner  helmets are available for  standard BRC students only)

 Shatter-proof eye protection

 Long sleeved shirt or jacket that covers the arms completely

 Full-fingered gloves

 Sturdy over-the-ankle footwear (preferably rubber soles)

 Long non-flare denim pants or material of equivalent or better durability - holes in pants are NOT allowed

     Not required - Highly recommended:

 Sunscreen

 Snack & non-alcoholic beverage

 2 piece rain suit (ponchos not allowed) - if rain is in the forecast of your class dates

Fees are subject to change without notice.  In order to reserve your place, the fee must be received prior the student’s scheduled class. 

 

Any student needing to re-schedule, must contact the office no less then 72 hours prior to the start of the 1st class session in order to receive credit for a future class.  Refunds will NOT be given for any reason.

The following situations (but not limited to) will result in forfeiture of students entire fee and will require re-scheduling and repayment of entire fee for a later class session:

 Students that call for re-schedule less than 72 hours prior to the start of the 1st class session.

 Students that do not show up for class or leave during any part of the class for any reason.

 Students arriving after the start time of their scheduled class will NOT be admitted to the class.

 

NOTE:  Students that sign up for a special priced class and request to be re-scheduled will be required to pay the difference between the special and standard rate as well as a $10.00 administrative fee.

 

All fee’s are non-refundable.

Text Box: Advantage Motorcycle Training reserves the right to cancel any class prior to the start date of the first scheduled class.  Students signed up for a motorcycle riding class that is cancelled, will be re-scheduled for a later date.

If you have physical limitations or are on medication, please be aware that these courses are strenuous and physically demanding.  If you have a heart condition, are prone to dizziness, or have a physical or mental condition which may adversely affect your performance, we advise against participating in the class.  You are responsible for your own decision to participate.  If your condition adversely affects your performance, our instructors will ask you to leave the class.

3-Wheel Basic Rider Course  (Trike Training)  $195.00

This two day course is designed to teach the basics of safe and responsible triking.  The 3 Wheel Basic Rider Course (3WBRC) is for people who have never ridden before as well as experienced riders that would like to have a refresher course or sharpen their skills and/or safety strategies.

The course consists of classroom and trike range instruction which is approximately 10 hours (lunch & breaks excluded).  Each student will receive a 3-Wheel BRC handbook for the classroom portion of the course.   Students must provide a street legal, true three track trike, DOT helmet and proof of insurance.

(Trikes can NOT have a Voyager kit, be a Thoroughbred Stallion or be a Volkswagon)

Students must be physically & mentally capable, be 15 years old on or before the date of class (signed parental consent if under 18 years old),  Ages 15-25 must have a Class C learner license (permit) or an unrestricted Class C, or higher, driver license.  All students are required to present their own learner’s permit, driver’s license or if over age 25 and they don’t have a driver’s license, must present proof of identification at the beginning of class.
